OBJECTIVE: To capture the energy and significance of the Mile 23 cheer zone in Bronzeville during the Chicago Marathon. This shoot focused on documenting the raw emotion of spectators as well as the grit and determination of runners during one of the race’s most critical final stretches. The images highlight the power of community support and the growing representation of diverse neighborhoods in the marathon experience.
